How to Build Your Perfect Bowl: Toppings, Add-Ons & Spice Bombs

Every bowl on Bakudan's Ramen menu already comes built with a specific set of toppings — you don't need to customize anything to get a complete bowl. But if you want more control over what's in front of you, the menu gives you two real ways to do that: the "Be Extra" add-ons and the Spice Bombs.

Start From a Base Bowl

Every bowl already has its own built-in topping set. Garlic Tonkotsu comes with pork chashu, kikurage, fried garlic chips, fried onion, a seasoned egg, and nori. Spicy Umami Miso comes with diced pork chashu, bok choy, and bean sprouts. You're not building a bowl from a blank slate — you're starting from a finished dish and adjusting it from there.

"Be Extra" Add-Ons

If you want more of something — extra egg, extra chashu, extra noodles — that's what the "Be Extra" add-on section is for. It's priced separately from the bowl itself, and it's the way to make a specific bowl bigger or more loaded without switching to a different menu item entirely.

Spice Bombs, at $0.75 Each

Spice Bombs are Bakudan's way of letting you control heat independently of which broth you order. Every bowl on the Ramen menu can take one, and they're priced at $0.75 each — so you can start with a milder base like Bakudan Chicken and add heat gradually, rather than committing to a whole different bowl if you're not sure how spicy you want to go.

A Practical Way to Order

If you're not sure how far to take it, a reasonable approach is to order your bowl as-is the first time, then decide on your next visit whether you want to add a Spice Bomb or extra toppings next time. There's no requirement to customize anything — plenty of regulars just order the bowl as it comes.
