Bakudan's La Cantera location sits right along La Cantera Parkway, close enough to the Palladium IMAX that pairing dinner with a movie doesn't require much planning. It's a straightforward date-night pairing, not a stretch.
Before the Movie
If you're catching an early showtime, a bowl beforehand is a reasonable way to fill the time between arriving and the movie starting, without needing a long, drawn-out dinner reservation elsewhere.
After the Movie
La Cantera is open until 8:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 PM Friday and Saturday, so a later showtime with dinner after can still work depending on when the movie lets out — worth checking the Palladium's showtimes against Bakudan's closing hours before you plan the order.
If Drinks Are Part of the Plan
La Cantera runs a full cocktail and wine program, so if part of the date is a drink beforehand or after, that's available here the same way it is at Stone Oak. Happy hour runs daily 3–6 PM if your timing lines up with it.
What to Order
For a date-night bowl, Garlic Tonkotsu or Spicy Umami Miso both make a more substantial impression than the milder Bakudan Chicken — richer, more complex bowls if you want the meal itself to feel like part of the occasion rather than just refueling before a movie.
